Recap: European Girls' Team Championship Day 3 Match Play
All four top seed teams are thru to semifinal play tomorrow.
The Masters Course at Forsgårdens Golf Club is a great match play course the way it´s set up for this championship. If you are dialed in and take your chances the course offers a lot of birdie opportunities but if your concentration or execution is just a little off, the course bites back.
Italy were even with Netherlands after morning foursomes. When the singles started the Italians never looked back and secured a place in the semifinals with four wins in the singles.
The Czech Republic also halved the foursomes with opponent Germany. In the singles it was some close matches and it was, co-medal individual winner in stroke play, Sarah Hricikova who holed the winning putt on the 17th.
Sweden made it thru after a tight encounter with Nordic neighbor Denmark. Sweden was two up going in to singles, but Denmark came out playing good golf I the afternoon. Elsa Svensson was at one point three down and did fight her way back and when she holed out for par on the 17th hole she booked a place in the semifinal for Sweden.
Spain made it thru as the last team to the semifinals. They had to dig deep to beat England 4-3, the last and deciding match went all the way to 18.

Sweden (3) vs. Spain (2)
The semifinals will be decided with two foursome matches in the morning and five single matches in the afternoon. You need to win four matches to win the team match and advance to the next round.

The Format
The championship is played over five days. The first two rounds are stroke play qualifying were each team plays six players counting five scores as the team score.
After two rounds the top eight teams goes on to play for the championship in match play. The stroke play will determine the seeded order for the match play with 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5.
The other teams that did not made the championship rounds plays on as well. They are playing for places and pride; this part is also decided in match play.
About the venue
Forsgården Golf Club there are 27 beautiful holes of golf situated only five minutes by car from the center of Kungsbacka. The 2018 European Girls’ Team Championship will be played on the Masters Course, a parkland golf course and host venue of the Scandinavian Masters on the European Tour in 1993 and 1996.
